Follow this easy and quick DIY to make your own kite! Make the most of this good weather, take it to your next beach trip and watch it fly!

The perfect toy for summer days!

For this DIY, you will need:

  • our free template (download below)
  • 4 straws
  • 1 ice-cream stick
  • twine
  • tape
  • a pair of scissors
  • a cloth or some fabric
  • and… some glue

Everything you will need for this DIY

Step 1
Step 1: Insert the extremity of one straw inside another. Secure with tape. Repeat with the two other straws

Step 2: Position the straws like shown in the picture

Step 3: Secure them in the position with some twine

Step 4: Cut about 4cm off each extremity of the horizontal straws

Step 5: Make a small cut with scissors on the extremity of each straw, like shown in the picture

Step 6: Insert the twine in the small cuts in order to create the shape of the kite, then make a knot to secure

Step 7: Cut the fabric in the shape of the kite. Remember to leave an extra margin of about 3 cm

Step 8: Secure the fabric to the straws with some tape

Step 9: Fold the margins of the fabric and secure with tape

Step 10: Secure the twine to the structure of the kite like shown in the picture

Step 11: Tie 1m of twine to the centre of the ice-cream stick

Step 12: Download, print and cut out our template

Step 13: Stick some twine of your desired length to the bottom of the kite. Put some glue on one of the cut outs, then stick the twin part on top, while leaving the twine in the middle

Step 14: Repeat every 10 cm to add more decorations to your kite

Step 15: Your kite is ready to take flight!
