We’ve all had to bare the drama of the sock that’s lost its twin in the washing machine…

With this week’s DIY, we’re teaching you how to give

a second life to that lonely sock by making the cutest soft toy!

DIY Sock Soft Toy

For this DIY, you will need:

  • our free template (adult sock) that you can download below
  • a single sock
  • black and white thread
  • a needle
  • white felt
  • coloured felt
  • padding
  • and…scissors

Step 1: first, turn your sock inside out. Cut 10cm in the middle, starting from the end of the sock (as seen on picture 1).

Step 2: then, sew the edges with overlapping stitches to make the ears.

Step 3: fill the sock with padding.

Step 4: then, cut off the bottom of the sock.

Step 5: make a wrong side at the base of the sock and sew the edges together to close up the soft toy.

Step 6: using the template, cut out a face in white felt and sew it with white thread.

Step 7: using the template, cut out the mittens, the mouth and eyes in the coloured felt. You can also use buttons!

Step 8: add simple stitches to sew the facial features onto the soft toy. You can also add little hairs between his two ears!

And there you go! This sock soft toy will never be single anymore!
