A pretty dream catcher for beautiful nights.

Dreamcatcher DIY

For this DIY, you will need:

  • our free template that you can download below
  • a 25cm diameter metal hoop
  • white wool thread
  • twine
  • white artificial feathers
  • wooden pearls
  • different shapes and sizes of ribbons (lace, large, thin etc.)
  • superglue
  • and… scissors

Dreamcatcher DIY
Step 1: start by covering up the hoop by winding some twine up around it (you can also use some ribbon or wool). From time to time, add a drop of superglue to maintain it all together.

Step 2: finish by making a little knot at the top to hang the dreamcatcher later on. Add a little pearl as a decoration and tie the knot.

Step 3: cut a long piece of wool (a lot is needed not to fall short during the weaving). Attach it to the loop by making a double knot.

Step 4: wind up some wool around the hoop by making regular spaces. To weave it, put the wool thread in front of the hoop, then pass it behind and make it come back in the loop again.

Step 5: repeat the previous step until you've gone around.

Step 6: then, repeat the previous step but starting in the middle of the wool thread. Secure the wool tightly so that the weave is tense.

Step 7: insert a few pearls in the middle of the weaving.

Step 8: continue to close the loop and end by tying a double-knot.

Step 9: print the feather templates and cut them out.

Step 10: fold them in half lengthwise and indent the sides to make them look "feathery".

Step 11: cut a 25cm wool string for each feather. Insert a pearl and tie a knot. Alternate between paper feathers and synthetic feathers.

Step 12: fasten the feathers at different heights on the lower part of the dreamcatcher.

Step 13: cut ribbons of different colours and sizes (from 65cm to 30cm).

Step 14: add the ribbons one by one in-between the feathers. To do so, fold the ribbons in the middle and fasten them with a dot of glue directly onto the dreamcatcher's hoop.

Step 15: vary the ribbons' colours and heights. Adjust the size of the ribbons if needed.

Step 16: and you're done!
