With a few leftover pieces of wood,

you can make a pretty wooden puzzle.

DIY Wood Puzzle

For this DIY, you will need:

  • some square-faced wood battens of the same size (ours are 18 mm wide and 16 cm long)
  • different colours of paint
  • a paintbrush
  • some masking tape
  • and… a sand block or sand paper

Step 1: use a sanding block on the wood pieces to avoid having splinters or little bits that could prick.

Step 2: prepare your different patterns on a paper sheet so that they're ready to be copied onto the puzzle.

Step 3: place the sticks next to one another and use some masking tape to hide the parts that should not be painted.

Step 4: paint the visible parts with the colours of your choice and leave to dry.

Step 5: we've chosen to work with four different colours.

Step 6: once the paint is dry, delicately pull the masking tape off.

Step 7: sand the wood pieces a little bit if the paint has gone a little over the edges.

Step 8: start over on another side with a different shape.

Step 9: apply the paint where needed.

Step 10: take the masking tape off once the paint is dry.

Step 11: then, move on to the 3rd side. Here, we've chosen a checked pattern.

Step 12: paint the diamonds and peel the masking tape off to obtain a checker pattern.

Step 13: head on to the last side. Here, we've chosen two pastel colours.

Step 14: once again, peel the masking tape off gently.
