 You were wondering which type of art you could create with your kiddos for Christmas?
Don’t go anywhere, we have right here what you need… A beautiful reindeer as an Advent calendar 🙂

For this DIY, you will need:

  • a plastic bottle
  • newspapers
  • wallpaper glue or vinyl glue and flour
  • paint
  • felt pens
  • a marker
  • 2 nice branches
  • a rock (to stabilise the head)
  • foam or modelling clay (to stick the antlers)
  • a cutter / a pair of scissors
  • and… string or thread

Step 1: with the help of an adult, cut the bottom of the plastic bottle slightly oblique and cut the bottle neck.

Step 2: with a marker, draw the face and ears of the reindeer.

Step 3: cut and fold the ears up.

Step 4: at the bottom of the bottle, put something heavy such as a rock to stabilise the reindeer.

Step 5: cut the head and tape it to the bottom of the bottle.

Step 6: where the bottle neck is missing, tape a crumpled ball of newspaper.

Step 7: make 2 holes at the top of the reindeer's head to place 2 branches that are going to be the antlers. Stick them into modelling clay so they can be stable.

Step 8: prepare the papier-mâché mixture: use wallpaper glue, flour, vinyl glue and water.

Step 9: soak strips of newspapers in glue and cover the face and neck of the reindeer with them. Wait a full day for your art to dry.

Step 10: paint the reindeer's face with the colours of your choice.

Step 11: draw his eyes and muzzle.

Step 12: finish your Advent calendar by adding treats and sweets in small pockets hung up to its antlers.
