An old box, a few skewers and some black paint are all you need

to create this charming little shadow theater!

Kid's Shadow Theater DIY

For this DIY, you will need:

  • our free template that you can download below
  • a carboard box (approx. 20 x 20 cm)
  • coloured paper or graphic paper (at least 30 x 30cm)
  • tracing paper
  • masking tape
  • skewers
  • scissors
  • a cutter
  • a paint brush
  • black paint
  • glue
  • and… a black marker

Step 1: cut out all of the characters and pieces of the template and transfer them on some thick cardboard.

Step 2: paint the skewers and different shapes in black and let them dry.

Step 3: add a dot of glue on the character's foot.

Step 4: then, fasten it on the skewer.

Step 5: repeat the previous step for each piece of your Little Red Riding Hood scene.

Step 6: on the graphic paper (30 x 30cm), draw a 18 x 18cm (at the center of the paper sheet lengthwise and at 1cm from the the bottom). Then, cut it out with a cutter.

Step 7: cut out the bottom of your box using a cutter.

Step 8: add some glue on all of the edges of your box.

Step 9: glue the graphic paper on the box.

Step 10: add some pretty masking tape on each side of the boxes, except the bottom.

Step 11: use the leftover part of the box as a point of reference to cut out a square made of tracing paper.

Step 12: add some glue on the inside of the box.

Step 13: and glue the tracing paper to the edges.

Step 14: let everything dry down.

Step 15: and let the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and the bad wolf begin!
