With the arrival of spring, let’s enjoy the back of relaxing evenings in the garden, long days and the nice weather. At Petit-Fernand, we think it’s the perfect time to suggest you a tutorial to make your own paper lanterns. 

Learn how to realise two wonderful paper lanterns, to hang on your patio or balcony to celebrate the return of the sun by adding a touch of decoration outside. 

DIY Paper Lantern

For this workshop, you will need (for 3 paper lanterns) : 

  • A cheese box
  • 3 sheets of silk paper  
  • A pair of scissors
  • Gift ribbon
  • A battery-powered candle
  • A glue stick
DIY Spring Papers Lantern

Step 1 : Unfold the sheet of silk paper and stick the lower edge with your glue stick

Step 2 : Fold the sheet from the top down to stick it

Step 3 : Stick the silk sheet inside a cheese box

Step 4 : Cut the paper that overhangs with a pair of scissors

Step 5: Cut the cheese box lid to remove the cardboard box at the centre

Step 6 : Stick the lid on top of the lantern then add a peak of glue

Step 7 : Make two holes into the upper box and put the ribbon to hang your lantern wherever you want.

Step 8 : Place a battery-powered candle inside and hang it in your garden
