With the summer heat, it’s ice-cream time for everyone!

Here’s a simple and fun little DIY: your kids can recycle their popsicle sticks

and create little wooden planes by adding a wooden clothe peg.

For this DIY, you will need:

  • 3 popsicle sticks per plane
  • 1 clothing peg per plane
  • blue and yellow paint
  • a blue paint marker
  • glue
  • scissors
  • a pencil
  • a water cup
  • and…a paintbrush

Step 1: start by sketching two semi-circles on a popsicle stick.

Step 2: cut the stick in half by cutting along the guidelines.

Step 3: paint one side of the sticks and wait a little while before painting the other side.

Step 4: then, paint the first side of the peg and wait two minutes before painting the other side and the inside.

Step 5: once the paint is dry, draw patterns on the bigger stick with the blue paint marker.

Step 6: create a different pattern on the smaller stick.

Step 7: glue the bigger stick underneath the wooden peg...

Step 8: and the stick with patterns on the top of your peg.

Step 9: finally, glue the decorated stick at the end of the peg. And we're ready for takeoff!

Step 10: you can make as many colourful planes as you like, with all kinds of different patterns to complete your mini airport!
